ANTIOCH, Contra Costa County — October 27, 2026. Nonprofit organizations serving lower-income Antioch residents have a new funding cycle to examine. The city and Contra Costa Consortium released Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG) application materials on October 15, 2026, for work beginning in fiscal 2027–28 and later years.

What kinds of projects can qualify?

The CDBG program supports eligible public services and community-development projects, including housing rehabilitation, accessibility, neighborhood infrastructure, economic development and services for lower-income residents. ESG is focused on homelessness-related activities such as street outreach, emergency shelter, homelessness prevention and rapid rehousing. Projects must meet the detailed federal and local eligibility rules in the application documents.

The Antioch grants webpage also discusses Permanent Local Housing Allocation and Housing Successor funding for housing-related priorities. Applicants must distinguish the funding source and requirements rather than treating every city funding category as a single grant.

Deadline and application process

The official notice identifies Monday, December 7, 2026 as the CDBG/ESG application deadline. Applications must be submitted online via City Data Services. The city expressly warns that late, incomplete or improperly submitted applications will not be accepted, and that paper or email submissions do not satisfy the application process.

Because another section of the city’s general grant information retains an older placeholder reading ‘date to be announced,’ eligible applicants should use the current October 15 notice and full solicitation for the operative deadline and exact time.

How much money might be available?

For the new funding cycle, Antioch’s planning page lists estimated amounts of $850,000 in CDBG funding, $350,000 from Permanent Local Housing Allocation and $500,000 in Housing Successor resources. These are planning estimates subject to annual allocations, program rules and approval—not confirmed awards to any applicant.

What nonprofits should do

Review the eligibility requirements, gather a program budget and proposed outcomes, identify any matching funds or insurance requirements, and file early enough to address technical problems. The city says some applicants may make presentations to a council grant committee in early 2027, with final funding decisions following council review.
